Wellington — 2014

New Zealand Centre for Literary Translation, Victoria University of Wellington / Ministry of Education New Zealand Book Council

My mission has been to create a logo for this event that could last in the years to come.

The concept is based on the senses. Even if it could seem strange, the mean of translation and movement of words is not the mouth, but the soul. The symbol that binds together the soul as a mean of translation and the ethnic component requested by the client is the eye, declined in different ethnic features - such as shape, colour of iris and skin, expression, strength of lines - and a shut eye, representing disabilities and New Zealand Sign Language.

Moreover I created a graphic game with the words MOving and WOrds, being their first two letters (MO and WO) one the visual opposite of the other - like on a mirror. Finally, this game MO/WO has become the logo, and the eyes, assembled like a totem, a graphic element.
