This is an excerpt from my Master degree thesis, discussed at the college of engineering (Pisa). It deals with the urban planning for the restoration of the ancient walls of Asciano, using an environmental strategic evaluation as coded by the European law (VAS method). This has mainly been a research work, due to the lack of technical contents in the above mentioned law. But at the same time it is an actual work, ready to be carried out at any time.
The urban plan consists of the various phases of analysis, synthesis, design and evaluation. Its aim is the architectural survey and design of the “palazzo del podestà” (a medieval building of 2,000 cubic metres), together with the complete elaborations of original, proposed and superimposed status.
